Removable Insulation Jacket

A removable insulation jacket is a stitched, reusable cover that insulates valves, flanges, steam traps, pumps and other equipment that must be opened for maintenance. It closes with hook-and-loop straps, lacing wire or D-rings, so maintenance teams can take it off and refit it without cutting or replacing insulation. Each jacket is made to measure for the item it covers.

Removable insulation jackets are rated up to 550°C continuous, with the actual limit set by the core grade. A needled glass fiber mat core covers general hot service, while a ceramic fiber core is used for higher-temperature items. A standard removable jacket has a grey silicone-coated glass cloth outer cover, a needled glass fiber mat insulation core and a glass cloth inner liner. A PTFE-coated outer, a ceramic fiber core for high-temperature service and a stainless mesh inner liner for abrasion-prone surfaces are available as options. The insulation core is non-combustible.

Yes, removable insulation jackets can be made with an outdoor grade outer cover that sheds water. Mention outdoor installation in your enquiry, and make sure closures are fastened correctly after each refit so water does not collect inside the jacket. The fixed pipe insulation on either side still needs its own weatherproof finish, such as Aluminum Cladding Sheet & Coil.
